Top: JCPenney
Skirt: JCPenney
Wedges: Target
Nail polish: China Glaze Shower Together
My all time favourite photo location just got WAY better. Check out that vine! What is that thing?! I don't even care as long as it continues to exist because it looks awesome. And smells great too.
There's a thing going around the blogosphere called the Full Time Fabulous Monthly Blog Event. I'm not officially participating but the topic is heritage, so I thought I'd tell you all about my "heritage".
My family is three generations of southern New Jersey. I grew up in beautifulish Atlantic City, which is known for being the east coast version of Las Vegas and original home of the Miss America pageant. Thanks to where I live, I pronounce Arkansas "arr-Kansas" and water "wudder", I have a perpetual fear of seagulls stealing Wawa sandwiches straight out of my hands, and I am a diehard never-say-never-until-the-season-ends-in-failure-like-it-always-does Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Where I grew up has shaped who I am. I lived in the same house from 3 to 19, which is when my parents simultaneously retired and moved to the south. I spent many summers planted chest deep in the ocean, I learned to ride and read there, honed an amazing palate for tomatoes, and I am far from ashamed of where I come from, despite what many Americans insist. I get asked a lot if living in a gambling town and learning in a failing public school system was weird, but I can only say that it was normalcy for me. I was intact when I left NJ, and I owe a lot to the state that raised me.
I know what you're thinking, and no, I don't know any of the cast members of Jersey Shore. I would like to learn how to do my hair like Snooki though.

Thank you Laura! I literally gasped when I drove up and saw the vine. It was an omg moment for sure. It was a perfect fit!
ReplyDeletewudder thats cool! I'm glad your not ashamed:) I'm never ashamed! And your right about your favorite pic place getting so much cooler cause that place looks gorgeous! I love it beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo have I said how much I love this outfit? Because I really love it. I'm so partial to yellow it's not even funny though. And this outfit is so stinkin flattering! Bombshell!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit New Jersey despite the popular beliefs associated with it. Every state is on my list. :)
P.S.- All that's left is to come up with a clever name. I already have posts ready for upload for my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI really love your yellow skirt. It was cool too learn a little about your heritage.

Rosy, yeah! I do say some things a little funny but my friends seem to like it. They find it amusing, anyway! & yes, this location is pretty brilliant. Every time I go there the graffiti is different. It's awesome.
ReplyDeleteYay Meghan I'm so excited! Let me know when you go live :) I'm a big fan of yellow anymore, and I think I might have to try an all yellow outfit one of these days. Just to see how it goes. You should definitely check NJ out someday! No better beaches in America.
Vanessa, thank you so much! I'm very happy with my yellow skirt.
Great pics! The outfit really works with the graffiti wall. It does look very New Jersey.
ReplyDeleteAwesome too how the flowering tree matched the skirt - don't you just love when things work out like that?
Great pencil skirt too - by the way.
Hahaha Elle yes! I have to say the graffiti in NJ is not nearly as artistic as this wall usually is. Even in the dead of winter this wall is so colourful. I love it. & thank you, I think this skirt is going to get a LOT of wear!
