In public

Pin: heirloom | Top: Anthropologie | Skirt: Talbots | Heels: Urban Outfitters | Nails: butter London Hampstead Heath

The aches and pains I alluded to in last night's SIA post turned into full blown food poisoning overnight. This is the second time in five months that I've had it, and if you haven't had it, take it from me: it's one of the most miserable experiences you could possibly have. The worst is behind me, though, and I am in recovery now.

I took these photos yesterday in probably one of the most public locations I've been to. You've seen this location before, but I was there yesterday when the clock struck five and a number of employees left the building. I was nervous at first, but each person who walked by politely asked if the camera was on a timer, and one lady even said "I don't want to photobomb you!" and they were on their way. I was probably the only person who made any sort of fuss.

Mellow yellow

Top: J.Crew Factory | Skirt: Talbots | Wedges: Target | Nails: butter London Jaffa

I'm taking a Maymester class (on storytelling! FUN!), and that means that I am cramming fifteen weeks of one class into fifteen days. This is not a joke. But from this Saturday to next Saturday, I am class free, which means I can read whatever I want. I am very excited. I will be reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth, and possibly The Teleportation Accident by Ned Beauman.

UPDATE: my boss has just goaded me into attempting to read a book a day next week. DOING IT. I'll keep you posted on the outcome!

Sigh

I had a really rough night/day, you guys. Like, seriously hard. We had a family crisis and there were some issues and I'm still reeling and I don't even know how I managed to yank on a dress today, but I was in no mood for outfit pictures. So here's a shot of butter London's new fall/winter 2012 collection. I want them all.

Hopefully, outfit posts will return tomorrow.

Remote control

First picture with the remote...oh hey there!

Necklace: Target | Sweater: J.Crew | Skirt: Target | Boots: Target | Umbrella: Totes | Nails: butter London Trout Pout | Lips: NARS Heat Wave over Chapstick

Two majorly different things about the photos in this post. In addition to purchasing a 50mm lens, I invested in a wireless remote and receiver, and oh. em. gee. was it ever worth it. I've been at this for over a year, and my blog is still small (I don't mind that!), and I never thought I'd be plunking down money for a remote so I could take pictures of myself. The only remote I need is the remote control for the tv, am I right? Turns out I'm wrong. This remote is the shizz.

What I wore on Tuesday...which wasn't very impressive so no outfit shots

Of art and orchids

Cardigan: Target | Top: Old Navy | Skirt: Target | Tights: We Love Colors | Boots: Target | Nails: butter London Rosie Lee over butter London Big Smoke

This is my outfit for this week's Style Imitating Art! Salazar's hosting this week, and a week from now I'll be posting the next piece of art for our inspiration. Yay! The second I saw Salazar's pick, The Artist's Garden at Vèthueil by Claude Monet, I knew what to do--this shirt, this skirt, these tights, and done. The only thing I was stumped on was incorporating the pink Monet uses sparingly but beautifully on the stairs and the roof of the house in the background. I finally figured out an option--nails. Success!

Pink + Red | Everybody, Everywear

One of the things I hate about Valentine's Day is that any other day, this would just be an outfit. I would just be wearing clothing. Would I be nicely dressed? Sure. Would I be celebrating a holiday? No. But because I'm devoted to my blog and I really wanted to get back into EBEW, here I am, wearing red and pink and screaming to the world HEY, I KNOW IT'S VALENTINE'S DAY. Oh well. There'a box of chocolate and a card from my parents so I'm happy.

(I feel like this picture makes me look a little bit like this gal.)

Valentine's Day is also International Quirkyalone Day. For more info on that, read this. I'm proud to be a Quirkyalone, and even more proud that there is actually a term for what I am. There are a lot of people who are Quirkyalones and relate to this lifestyle, and there's no shame in it!

In relation to Valentine's Day is the day that happens after, better known to me as 75% Off All Candy Day, also known to me as The Best Day Of The Year. Yeah, I'll even capitalise "the" for that one. I can't wait for past date chocolate and half stale candy hearts. I especially love the white ones. I hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day/International Quirkyalone Day/Singles Awareness Day/Tuesday and I'll see you tomorrow!
