November wish list

Wish list is baaaaaaaaack! Is it really November already?

This dress from Shabby Apple is to die for. I might possibly ask for it for Christmas--I love the combo of the pastel with the amazing teal. And it is definitely the right cut for my body--because if there's one thing I need it's to bold and underline the fact that yes, I have crazy hips. I want to go to there.

I need a new winter coat. This is for real--I discussed winter coats earlier this year and much as I love that ivory coat, it is not as warm as it once was and it is very old (we're talking five years here people). I have struggled with finding coats that fit my arms, but I recently tried on this coat at JCPenney and I died. It fits! My arms! WITH A CARDIGAN ON! WHILE DRIVING! (I mean, I didn't take it out of the store or anything but I did sit down and pretend.) I especially love the yellow, but I'm trying to hold out for a supersale or at least some coupons (because you know JCP is all about the coupons).

We own this at the library, but I wouldn't mind a subscription to The Atlantic. I mentioned reading Kate Bolick's cover story last week in conjunction with reading The Marriage Plot and reflecting upon my existence as a single 20something woman living in a geographical region where marrying early is considered a social norm. I could go on and on about marriage but the point of this is that after reading All the Single Ladies, I went back and read the rest of the magazine and was really impressed. I want more!

It's football season, and I love it. I live for football. Every summer I wait on bended knee for the start of training camp, the fantasy football drafts (I usually have two or three teams), the opening kickoffs and the return of Sportscenter to normalcy instead of All That Stupid Baseball. But for all my love and devotion to football, all the hours spent poring over stats and watching and frustration when the Eagles inevitably don't win the Super Bowl again, I've never actually owned a football. I played powderpuff football in college & once I played center, and that's about as much interaction I've ever had with a football (because do I look like a ball handler to you? I'm such a lineman). Now that baby L. is around it's my job as head aunt to teach him football, and I'm going to need one to do that. It's time.

What do you think? Anything on your wish list for this month?

June wish list

omg you guys I forgot about wish list! Things have been so crazy with New York that it totally flew my mind. So here we go!

This dress. Come on. Look at it. The colours are awesome. I'm not usually big on asymmetrical necklines but this one works.

I have been meaning for weeks/months/years to roll on down to my local Talbots (which I pass on the daily) and I never have. I know, old people stuff. But this skirt is adorable and comes in not one but TWO shades of green. I'm still looking for a green skirt. We'll see about that.

At BEA last week my boss and I were waiting in line for...something or other (we waited in line for basically everything) and the woman in front of us was wearing a pair of Toms. My boss said I was "the Toms type" (read: HIPSTER) but I've honestly never worn them and really they look pretty dweeby BUTBUTBUT glitter? Ok, I'm in.

Elle turned me on to the wonders of DVR. I need this because a) I'm working during White Collar this summer and b) how am I going to watch all my football games when they're on three different channels? This is a necessity. #richpeopleproblems

What are you wishing for this June?

May wish list

Wish list is back! Last month's wist list is still 2/3 wishes; I did purchase the curling shoes. We'll see what I end up with this month!

This tunic from Boden is near the top of my wish list, just below last month's eShakti dress. I am loving jade right now and it's one of those colours that works with every skin tone. I think the top four are jade, navy, cranberry and plum. Jewel tones! Anyway, how cute would this dress be with a braided belt and some platform wedges? Which are also huge this season. I'm going to Savannah in June so I think this will have to go with me.

Yeah, here's the thing. I have an LG Env2 and it's great but it is also OLD and half the buttons on the front don't even work. It's paid its dues. I want to upgrade to a smartphone before my trip to New York (I don't travel as much as you think!) and right now I'm liking the look of the Droid Incredible 2. How can you not like a phone named Incredible, right? Smartphone suggestions welcome, I'm with Verizon and I don't really want an iPhone. I'm also a moron when it comes to phones.

Tis the season to plant plants! Last year we planted tomato plants (the Cardigans are big fans of tomatoes) and they did horribly. Fortunately it wasn't just us, the whole area had a rough tomato season, but we're avoiding it this year with MATER MAGIC. I hope anyway. I already bought & used Mater Magic so really this wish is more that it actually works, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Wait! One more! Peter Pan collar AND pink? LL Bean Signature hit the nail on the head.

What do you covet for May?

April wish list

Well you guys I did next to nothing of worth today so instead of showing you my awesome outfit of jeans/curling pants and a sweatshirt, here are a few things I'm currently lusting after. Maybe I'll do this monthly. Maybe I won't. WHO KNOWS?! Keep reading to find out! ;)

I can't lie to y'all, my April clothing budget is going directly to these curling shoes by Olson. For the last however many years curling shoes have been around, they have been made in many colours, all of which are called black. I've been holding off on purchasing curling shoes a) because I'm poor, boo hoo; b) because I wasn't sure if I could make this a Thing like horseback riding is; and c) because curling shoes are u-g-l-y you ain't got no alibi. Then Olson came along with these amazing shoes! My feet are burning to have the shoes on them. Basically, my feet want to go to there.

When Rebecca with an R posted herself wearing an adorable dress from eShakti, I was on that site like white on rice. I'm a little crushed that her dress isn't available anymore, but then I found this puppy. The colour is perfect, the chest detail is perfect, and I have heard nothing but good about eShakti's customer service and tailoring. Yeah, they do custom sizing. I need some of that in my life.

I follow a blog called It's Nice That, and a long time ago they did a post on Coralie Bickford-Smith's cover designs for new Penguin Classics. The one word to describe these books is beauty and everything the definition embodies; every cover is simplistic in design but intricately detailed and perfectly coloured. I especially love this cover of The Odyssey, and I also covet this edition of my favourite book, Tess of the d'Urbervilles. I would love Smith & Penguin to collab on The Aeneid too!

What do you covet for April?
