Rhinestone shades

Top: J.Crew Factory | Skirt: Old Navy | Wedges: Target | Shades: Party City (of all places)

My coworker and I went to Party City last week to pick up prizes for a library party, and I ended up with cheap sunglasses. I don't wear sunglasses almost ever, because I can't see very well without my glasses, but these shades are basically perfect for loafing in the sun and/or looking really cool in blog posts. You know. Whatever it takes.

Style Imitating Art: The Singing Butler

It's Style Imitating Art time! Yesssss! As a reminder, this week's art is The Singing Butler by Jack Vettriano. We have a pretty big group this week, which is awesome. Let's go!

First up is Stephanie, and she looks amazing! I love her hat! It reminds me of Carmen Sandiego :)

Kezzie of KezzieAG got pretty close to the seashore for this photo, and I love it! I just realized that I picked two red-based paintings in a row, and I think that's to Kezzie's advantage--she looks great in red!

Melissa at Peace and Crumbs is joining us for the first time in a while, and she looks fantastic. I love that she brought out the umbrella. And I'm glad she's participating because she even owns a print of The Singing Butler!

This is my first time posting one of Mike's outfits, but I'm thrilled to have him! He looks great--the red shirt/black suit is such a sharp, timeless look.

Grace at Living with A-Holts has the COOLEST shoes. Like ever. Check out her blog for a close up!

My SIA co-creator Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey is holding it down with a super cool outfit, complete with snakeskin shoes. Fabulous.

And then there's me! I thought a pair of shades would add to the sassy attitude that comes out in the painting.

Thanks for participating this week, everyone! You all look fantastic!

SIA: PSA

The Singing Butler by Jack Vettriano
Oil on canvas, 1992

An alternate title to this post would be Sick and Tired. I have been fighting a summer cold (they are the literal worst this time of year) for almost two weeks, which knocked me on my ass and into bed for almost an entire week. I've been miserable. And as you can probably guess (and as anyone who has worked in a public library will tell you), this is the absolute busiest time of the year for me at work. And my supervisor has been out all summer on maternity leave, which has made things a smidge more stressful/overwhelming. So when I picked this week's SIA, I wanted to find something that would transport me to somewhere I wanted to be: a different land of sorts, somewhere fantastic. I feel like The Singing Butler works for that.

Send me your submissions for this week's SIA by July 27th! Enjoy--that red is too good to pass up.
