Belt it anyway
Cardigan: Target
Top: Target
Scarf as belt: TJMaxx?
Pants: JCPenney
Flats: Target
I'll admit it. We all know I love to belt the daylight out of everything, but I have a hard time using scarves and the like as belts. I like the look from the front, and then there's a giant knot in my back when I sit down.
I do like how this looks though. This scarf is perfect for belting because it's kind of thick and has some shape to it, so it makes a bow really well! Yay.
This post is like a bikini: long enough to cover everything but short enough to keep your attention. That's what my 7th grade social studies teacher always said when I asked how long my papers should be.

I really like how you've used your scarf for a belt. It goes nicely with your lovely floral top!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brooke! I really wanted to try a scarf and I was going to do purple but at the last minute I picked green. I'm glad I did because I really like the colour play!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I dig the scarf as a belt here. It gives it a "pop" and pulls everything together. I just started using belts and the like on the outside of my tops and cardigans / sweaters / dresses this past year actually. It was funny because when I started I would ask my husband how I looked and he, being about equally as dorky as me, would say "You look cute, (he has to say that) but I don't know about the belt. It could be brilliant or it could be ridiculous." Half the time I would chicken out - but now more than not I go with it and am glad I do.
ReplyDeletescarves are awesome belts....love the pants, too--they are extremely flattering!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the scarf as a belt! I'm definitely gonna have to try that. Also, this is the perfect location for a blog shoot..that wall is awesome. Never thought I'd say that about a wall, haha =P

ReplyDeleteDang it commenting is HARD, y'all.
ReplyDeleteElle--yes, I'm the same way! It's hard for me to go outside my comfort zone, and belting was one of the hardest things for me to get over because I thought it made me look funny. Then I started this blog and one day I saw myself wearing a belt and realised I was wrong! Belts are so versatile and I can't believe I was missing out for so long.
Aleisha thank you! These are my favourite pants, hands down.
Thanks Christen! I definitely recommend scarf-as-belt; it takes some practice and messing with it but it's worth the added effort! Also my social studies teacher was 6'6 and had a really deep voice. Looking back, his saying that was probably hilarious but I was too intimidated to laugh!
Oh, that's super cute! The bow-scarf-belt looks really great. I always try that but can never get the belt just so, you know?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the skirts in the posts before and after this!
Thanks Kelly! I think I got lucky this time around because usually my bow attempts look like they were run over by a truck. Womp womp. & thank you for the skirt compliment!
