Tasting the rainbow

You know what Foursquare is, right? Well I'm going to roll on the assumption that you don't and explain what it is as best as I can. It's a creepsterville social media version of location tracking, operable with a smartphone--users check into each location they're at via GPS, and the main goal is to collect badges for doing certain things and become the mayor--the person who has checked in most in the last two months--of different places. I may or may not have a Real Housewife badge. Okay, I do. How cool am I?

I'm so cool that I'm the mayor of 20 different places (which include but are not limited to my bedroom and my local oil change garage) and on the way home from work today I popped into my usual gas station for a fill up. And I checked in, of course, and I received a ~*Mayor Special*~ for being there--a free bag of Skittles for my troubles! And I can get one every day that I check in, while supplies last or until the special ends. Amazing! I have tasted the rainbow and the rainbow tastes like diesel.

  1. I have never seen a skirt like that before! it's so cool looking and it looks good on you! I totally need to try out this 30 for 30 thing. It just seems so hard to only pick out 30 items!!

anyway, I love your photo locations!! They photograph really well :) And way to go for getting free skittles. Sounds like you're lucky day :)

  2. Notes She Wrote--thank you so much! The skirt was a considerable effort for me (I'm still fairly new to sewing) but it was well worth it. I highly recommend doing 30 for 30 even if it's once because it's really broadened my concept of remixing. It's always been harder for me to pick enough than to pare down what I have! & thank you, I dig deep sometimes to get good photo locations :)

  3. I love that skirt! As soon as I saw the pics I was like - "okay where did she get that skirt?" So impressed that you made it! I always wanted to learn to sew, but I have been way too lazy/ uncoordinated to learn.

Never heard of foursquare (except the game from elementary school when the gym ball and the 4 squares..) that is awesome that you are the mayor of your local oil change place I think I would have to get that printed on a t-shirt just because I found it so amusing. "Mayor of ..." Jiffy Lube or whatever.

  4. Elle! I got the tutorial to make the skirt right here! I'm a 3.5 at best on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of sewing skills, and I found the tutorial really easy to follow. If you ever get around to learning I highly recommend the tutorials on this site!

I would LOVE a t-shirt that says Mayor of Valvoline Instant Oil Change! Or maybe Mayor of Goodwill? Mayor of CVS Pharmacy? Mayor of Karen's House? I would love a shirt that says any one of those things with a little crown over it, just like in Foursquare. I wonder now how the name originated. Hmmmmmmmmm
