When I was in high school, my bff A. worked at a golf course/resort. We had a standing dinner on Saturday nights after she got off work. One night, I arrived to pick her up after her shift, which ended around 10 (I think?), to go get food. There had been a party at the golf course, and for some reason, there were plastic pink flamingoes stuck all over a side lawn. A., ever the daredevil, and me, ever the getaway driver, hatched a plan to steal one of those flamingoes. It involved A. sneaking out of my car, snatching a flamingo off the lawn, diving into my car, and making a quick getaway. (Quite a plan.) Today, Frank perches next to the pool, enjoying his retirement in South Carolina.
This is Frank 2.0. Welcome to the family, Frank2. I think this is the beginning of a very unhealthy wonderful relationship.

Rebekah mentioned approximately two hours ago that she is bad at blogging this time of year. Concerts, fun, life, etc. I'd like to own up to the same deal, plus school. Concert season officially begins for me in one week, when T. and I are hitting up The Package Tour. I am not lying. Two Keshas (one of which includes bonus Pitbull), a Streetlight Manifesto farewell tour, and one Black Keys later, and...I also have tickets for Bruno Mars. No big deal. I'm a lot more excited about the whole concert thing than the fact that I still have that pesky grad school to deal with. December is coming, December is coming, December is coming.
White Center (Yellow, Pink and Lavender on Rose) by Mark Rothko
1950, oil on canvas
You all know Mark Rothko, right? If not, you should. He's one of the most influential artists of the Abstract Expressionism movement, which is one of the most important post-war art movements thus far. Abstract Expressionism cracked open the world of art and changed the idea of what art could be. Rothko was a skilled artist, and this piece--White Center--sold for over $72 million, which is a record for the most any post-war artwork has ever sold for. Amazing. SIA submissions are due to me by the evening of Monday, June 17th. Enjoy, y'all!
