Or something similar to it. But Whistler was a prolific artist, and At the Piano was his first real masterpiece. Whistler advocated ars gratis artis, and sometimes you just have to look at a thing and accept it for what it is, rather than looking for some moral reasoning behind the work. Sometimes, it just is, and that's all there is. The isness of the object.
